Explaining Membership Types
PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBERS
A teacher, counselor, SLP or other professional employee in an education institution
Returning MSTA Member.................................$245
New MSTA Member.............................................$140(First-time member, but not new educator or transferring educator)
First-year Teacher.................................................$140
Part-time Teacher.................................................$130(Employed half-time or less)
ASSOCIATE STAFF MEMBERS
Staff member employed by the district in a support role (bus drivers, nurses, custodians, cafeteria workers, paraprofessionals, etc.) or a substitute teacher.
Associate Member.................................................$95(A person working in a support position in their school district.)
(Those not employed by the school district are not eligible for liability insurance. Examples: employees of temp or hiring agencies, bus contracting company, food service companies, etc.)
RETIRED MEMBERS
Former educator or support staff, retired from education and receiving benefits from PSRS or PEERS.
Retired Annual Member.....................................$25
Optional Plus Protection..........................+$35
Retired members who are returning to the classroom may add optional Plus Protection to their membership for an additional $35. Plus Protection provides liability insurance, legal services and Member Service Coordinator support.
Lifetime Retired Membership........................$250
COLLEGE STUDENT MEMBERS
A part-time or full-time student enrolled in a teacher education program in a college or university and is not employed full-time by an education institution.
College Student Membership.............................$0
