Rebuilding Rolla
During a school production of Chicago at Rolla Middle School on March 14, 2025, an EF-2 tornado struck Rolla, forcing students, staff, and families to evacuate and seek shelter as water poured in and power went out. The tornado caused severe damage across the district—tearing the roof off Mark Twain Elementary’s cafeteria, heavily damaging Wyman Elementary, and flooding around 35 classrooms with inches of water.

2025 MSTA Member Survey
MSTA surveyed its members to take the pulse on the state of the profession. Members shared the challenges they face, how often they think of leaving the classroom, and what makes them stay. Responses reveal that Missouri educators are passionate about teaching, however, factors such as student behavior, lack of support, and low pay make it hard for educators to stay in the classroom.
