Why Bylaws Matter

Often overlooked until there is a problem, the CTA governance documents should provide the ground rules for how you operate your CTA. Who can be a member? Do you have committees? How often do you meet? All of these questions can be answered with your local Bylaws.

What to Include

  • CTA Name and Purpose
  • Officer Titles, Roles, and Term Limits
  • Election and Voting Procedures
  • Dues Amount and Collection Rules
  • Meeting Frequency and Quorum Requirements
  • Amendments Process

Reviewing & Revising

  • Review bylaws at least once per year.
  • Use the editable template to propose updates.
  • Follow your current bylaws for how amendments must be adopted (usually by vote).
