MSTA Statement on the passage of House Resolution 82: “The Missouri State Teachers Association commends the U.S. Congress and the Missouri delegation members that voted in favor of H.R. 82 which will repeal the unjust Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) provisions. This is a monumental day for Missouri teachers, ensuring that they will receive the Social Security benefits they earned through work outside of public education. This repeal will not only provide financial fairness but will help recruit and retain teachers across the state. MSTA members' voices were heard in Congress, and this legislation would not have happened without your advocacy. The Missouri State Teachers Association now urges President Biden to sign this critical legislation to repeal two provisions of federal law that have harmed public servants for over 40 years.”
