What do you teach at Malden Elementary?

"I teach special education in grades 2-3."

How long have you been an educator?

"I have been an educator for 14 years and have worked at [Malden School District] for 20 years."

Why is your work as an educator important to you?

"My work as an educator is important to me because I help students to grow in confidence, making sure they are capable students and capable generations. I help build meaningful relationships and provide stability, encouragement, and guidance. I get to see students have their "a-ha" moments. My work as an educator is important to me because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Each day, I have the opportunity to inspire curiosity, nurture growth, and help students believe in their own potential. The sense of purpose and connection is what makes this work deeply fulfilling to me."

How does it feel to be named a McDonald's Outstanding Educator?

"Being named a McDonald's Outstanding Educator feels both humbling and uplifting. It's an incredible honor to be recognized for doing something that I truly love doing. This reminds me that every challenge and small victory is worth it. This keeps inspiring me that I am doing what I should and I am where I should be. "
