- Download MSTA's app.
- Encourage Beginning Teacher Assistance Program registration.
- Appoint committee chairpersons and members.
- Send list of CTA officers to membercare@msta.org.
- Make sure plans are in place to welcome new teachers to the district and to recruit them as members.
- Order additional membership materials from the MSTA Member Care Center at 800-392-0532 or membercare@msta.org.
- Encourage CTA members to vote in primary election Aug. 4.
- Review Adopted Resolutions and submit new resolutions, deletions, or revisions to the Education Policy Committee by Sept. 10 for inclusion in Proposed Resolutions 2026. (Next deadline is Oct. 8, 2026.)
- Does your school have an FTA chapter? If so, does the CTA pay the charter fee? If not, please talk to an MSTA member about sponsoring a chapter. Call 800-392-0532 for more info.
- Have you joined MSTA's social media? Don't forget to share links with your members.
- Remember to file your CTA's 990-N electronically by Nov. 15.

- Ask your board to include the MSTA Convention in next year's school calendar. It will be held Nov. 18-19, 2027, in Columbia.
- Write to legislators and let them know you are the legislative chair for your CTA.
- Attend an MSTA school finance workshop and negotiation workshop. (Dates are posted on the MSTA website.)
- Make sure all committees are organized and working.
- Contact the MSTA Professional Learning Department for in-service program ideas and speakers.
- Register CTA members to visit Jefferson City for your region's Capitol Visit.
- Welcome and recruit any new hires and student teachers.
- Stay informed on legislative issues by reviewing MSTA Action updates each week.
- Interested in presenting at 2027 Leadership Conference? Call for proposals is Dec. 1, 2026 – Jan. 20, 2027. For the link to the proposal go to msta.org/leadership-proposals/.
- Refer questions about contracts and employment matters to Legal Services toll-free at 866-343-6186.
- Read MSTA Action.
- Be sure that your MSTA/CTA is represented at a Capitol Visit that brings you face-to-face with your legislator.
- Plan a candidate forum for school board candidates. (Resources are available on the MSTA website.)
- Plan to attend regional spring meeting. Be sure to send a list of award winners to communications@msta.org
- Be sure plans are in place for a social event to honor retiring teachers. Customize retirement certificates (found on the Leader Hub at msta.org.) Encourage retirees to join Retired-MSTA.
- Read MSTA Action.

- Attend an MSTA Capitol Visit and write a letter on behalf of the CTA on issues that affect you.
- Register for MSTA's Leadership Conference at msta.org/leadership.

- Remind your colleagues to download and print Reading Circle certificates for their students at readingcircle.org.
- If you didn't elect new officers and/or building representatives in April, do so now. Send names of new officers to MSTA.

- Encourage new president and other officers to register for MSTA's summer Leadership Conference at msta.org/leadership.
- Encourage new professionals (those in their first 7 years of teaching) to attend MSTA's New Professional Training Camp. For more information: msta.org/nptc
- Write a letter to legislators on behalf of your CTA, thanking them for supporting at least one MSTA Education Policy Priority.
- Invite retiring members to join Retired-MSTA. See details at msta.org/rmsta.
- Read MSTA Action.
- Register for MSTA's Leadership Conference at msta.org/leadership.
- Organize membership recruitment drive with committee or building representatives.
- Plan to welcome new teachers to the district and to recruit them as members.
- Encourage your PD chair to consider MSTA's flexible Beginning Teacher Assistance Programs for new hires. (MSTA is the only provider that offers both on-site and online options for required BTAPs.)
