Executive Director Search
Dear MSTA members,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am writing to share that MSTA Executive Director Bruce Moe plans to retire from the Missouri State Teachers Association effective June 30, 2027, after 37 years of dedicated service, including serving as executive director since 2012.
Throughout his career at MSTA, Bruce has been a steadfast advocate for Missouri’s educators and public education. Working alongside staff and volunteer leaders, he has helped strengthen the association’s support for members through professional learning, advocacy, and member services. We are grateful for his leadership and his longstanding commitment to the teachers MSTA serves.
By sharing his plans well in advance, Bruce has given the Board time to prepare for a thoughtful transition focused on continuity and MSTA’s long-term success. He will continue serving as executive director until his retirement in June and will work with the Board and staff to support a smooth handoff. Throughout the transition, MSTA will remain focused on providing the services, support, and advocacy our members count on.
The Board will lead the selection of MSTA’s next executive director and will share additional information with members as the process moves forward. A search committee is being appointed by the Board. The committee will be chaired by MSTA Vice President Noelle Horner and vice chair Tyler Lappe, MSTA State Board member.
In the months ahead, we look forward to celebrating Bruce’s career and recognizing his contributions to MSTA. Please join us in thanking him for his dedicated service and commitment to Missouri’s educators and students.
Sincerely,
Lana Moore
