Many of Missouri's school districts and their employees had a rough year, financially, during the 2009-10 school year. As a result, highly qualified professionals lost their positions, and newly minted education graduates are finding themselves without a job in the field they've studied.
MSTA would like to help by offering a free membership for the 2010-11 school year to those who were certified or associate member of MSTA in the 2009–10 school year, and lost your job, or Student MSTA members who graduated in 2010 and have been unable to find a job.
Why is MSTA doing this? Because our profession was better when these people were a part of it and we want to keep them as engaged as possible. Because this is one small thing that we can do to help.
Members who take advantage of this offer of transitional membership will continue to receive:
Finally, if transitional members find another position during the year we will continue that membership through June 30, 2011, at no additional cost.
For more information, or to find out if you are eligible call us at 800-392-0532. In addition, if you know of someone who was a member last year but did not join this year because of non-renewal or budget cuts please let him or her know of this transitional membership program.
