Legal protection
MSTA has a full-time Legal Services Department
and a network of attorneys throughout Missouri to assist members with school employment-related issues. In addition, MSTA’s field
service coordinators receive special training and instruction on the legal
issues that routinely affect members.
Benefits include:
• $2 million liability insurance as part of annual dues.
• Free legal consultation from MSTA's Legal Services
Department.
• Network of attorneys.
• Free workshops regarding teacher rights/teacher
liability.
MSTA will provide representation:
• At school board meetings.
• For teachers during meetings with principals.
• For teachers during meetings with superintendents.
• During meetings with Division of Family Services.
Liability insurance
A $2 million occurrence-based
liability insurance policy is included as a benefit with membership in
MSTA.
AD&D coverage
MSTA membership includes a $10,000 accidental death and dismemberment policy
that covers members 24 hours a day. This protection is included as a membership
benefit for accidents that occur anywhere, any time.
Examples of coverage:
• loss of life ($10,000)
• loss of both hands or feet ($10,000)
• loss of sight in both eyes ($10,000)
• loss of sight in one eye ($5,000)
• loss of hearing ($5,000).
All benefits reduce by 50 percent at age 70.
